Digital surgical strike again on China, government banned more than 150 mobile apps

Now citing security, the government has banned more than 200 apps with Chinese links. These apps include 138 betting apps and 94 loan apps. Information has come from the Ministry of Home Affairs that the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has started the process of banning and blocking these Chinese linked apps on an immediate and emergency basis. Of these, 94 apps are available on the App Store and others are working through third party links. According to media reports, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) was instructed by the Ministry of Home Affairs this week to block these apps. After which the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has started the process of blocking these apps. Ban imposed on emergency basis According to the report, states like Telangana, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh as well as central intelligence agencies have recommended action against these apps to the Union Home Ministry. Following which 138 betting apps and 94 loan apps having these Chinese links have been banned and blocked on an immediate and emergency basis. Loan apps even do blackmail Let us tell you that even before this, loan apps are on the watch of the government for blackmailing and stealing personal information of users. These apps offer loan without any paperwork and without KYC. In such a situation, people find it the easiest and fastest process to take loans from these apps and people fall prey to them.
