The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that separatism is an idea that can neither be imprisoned nor banned. It should be resolved only through dialogue and reconciliation. The Centre's current approach is only serving to further alienate Kashmiris and strengthen separatist sentiment. PDP said these things in its monthly newspaper 'Speak Up'. This January edition was released on Tuesday.
The party said that under the latest Land Grant Rules-2022, the leased land will have to be handed over to the government. This is another central government grab that will uproot local businesses, hotels and other establishments. It claimed that the land, like many airports, railway stations, LIC and other national assets, would eventually be taken over by their corporate friends.
The PDP said that the data presented in the Parliament about the actual investment in Jammu and Kashmir after 2019 has debunked the Indian government's bluff. Last year's figures were less than half of what we got in 2017-18, he said. The party said measures to deal with Kashmir are becoming more stringent with time as assets worth hundreds of crores linked to Jamaat-e-Islami have been seized by the State Investigation Agency (SIA) on the pretext of cracking down on separatism . But separatism is an idea and cannot be seized or imprisoned, the PDP said.
