State on alert after getting measles case

He said that after the discovery of measles cases in Malappuram, the district was put on alert and instructions were given to monitor the situation in the state. Last week there was a meeting of the health department regarding measles. In this the situation in Malappuram was discussed separately.He said that the health department is implementing people-friendly measures to fight measles in the district with the participation of public representatives. A campaign is being run to make people aware about the vaccine. Along with this, sufficient quantity of MR vaccine and Vitamin A syrup have been made available in the district.
Most cases in Maharashtra
So far 717 cases of measles have been reported in Maharashtra. Maximum 303 of these have been found in Mumbai. Measles usually spreads among children. So far 14 people have died due to measles in Maharashtra. Measles alone has killed 10 children in Mumbai. On Tuesday, 5 cases of measles were reported in Mumbai. There have been 11,390 suspected cases of measles in Mumbai since January. Of the 14 children who died of measles, only one had taken the vaccine.
