Measles is a serious viral infection from which small children can be easily protected through a vaccine. By coughing or sneezing, its particles start floating in the air, which can spread the disease.According to the BMC bulletin, a 10-year-old girl has been confirmed dead from measles in Mumbai. Being a resident of Bhiwandi in neighboring Thane district, his death will be shown there. So far BMC has surveyed 23,87,386 houses and found 2860 suspected patients with symptoms of high fever and rashes, including 237 found in the last 24 hours.Measles symptoms do not start until 10 to 14 days after exposure. They include a red, blotchy skin rash, fever, runny nose, swollen eyes, sore throat and cough.
Pregnant women and children under the age of five are the most common victims of measles. They are more likely to be exposed if they have low immunity and are not vaccinated at the right time. The spread of the disease is much more rapid if they come into contact with communities of affected individuals.
