It also states that the Orewa firm will not order materials for the repair of the bridge and they will complete the work only after their demand is met. Permanent contract awarded in March Even after all the negligence, the Orewa Group was given a permanent tender by the district administration. Even after this letter issued in January 2020, the contract was signed with Orewa Group for 15 years for the operation and maintenance of the bridge. The contract was signed between Morbi Municipal Corporation and Ajanta Orewa Company in March 2022. This contract was valid till 2037. Municipality shrugged off After the bridge accident, Morbi Municipality completely avoided the accident. According to media reports, Sandeep Singh, the municipal officer, said that the Oreva Group has violated the terms and conditions of the contract. He had opened the bridge in five months without informing the municipality. He says that no certificate was even issued from his side regarding the bridge. Kharge demands judicial inquiry Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has demanded a judicial inquiry into the Morbi bridge accident. Kharge tweeted and said, accountability should be fixed for the death of 135 people in the Morbi bridge accident. Municipality, Orva firm and guilty officials should be investigated. He said, in this case, the only option is a time bound judicial inquiry headed by a judge of the Supreme Court or High Court.
