A report by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) published in 2022 has revealed that more than half of the total pregnancy cases worldwide are unintended and more than 60 percent of these cases result in miscarriage. On the other hand, if we talk about abortion, about 45 percent cases are unsafe, in which there is a risk of death of the mother.

Talking about the situation in India, the UNFPA report states that one out of every 7 unwanted pregnancies in the world is from India. At the same time, a third of the total abortion cases, 67 percent, are unsafe.
