Tattooing has become a fashion these days.the last two months at the Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital in Varanasi, 12 youths have been confirmed to be HIV positive.The reason behind this infection is being told to be tattooed. All the youth had got tattoos done recently. Usually, while getting a tattoo done, young people often do not take into account whether the needle from which the tattoo is being made is new or used. This is becoming the reason for being HIV positive. In the greed of more money, tattoo artists use the same needle and put people's lives at stake.

Santosh (name changed) resident of Baragaon in Varanasi is 20 years old. He got the tattoo done in the fair held in his village. After a few months, his health started deteriorating, fever persisted and weakness also persisted. Santosh got all the checkups done including viral, typhoid, malaria, dengue. Medicines also continued continuously but there was no relief. When Santosh came to Varanasi and showed up, the doctors got him tested for HIV.The report came positive in the investigation. Santosh told the doctor that he is not married, nor has he ever had a physical relationship with anyone nor was he transfused blood for any reason, so how can he be HIV positive? Many people are getting tattoos done with the same needle The shocking thing is that these people had never had unprotected sex with anyone, nor did they ever get infected injections. When their report came positive, these people were surprised. Most of them are between 20 and 25 years of age. According to Dr. Preeti, after counseling these patients, it was found that their health started deteriorating only after getting the tattoo done. Actually, the needle used to get the tattoo was infected. Tattoos were done on the body of many people.The needle with which the tattoo is made is very expensive. Only one person should get a tattoo done from one needle. The needle once used should not be used again or else it can prove to be Fatal.According to the doctor, if you have got a tattoo done recently, then be alert immediately and get an HIV test done, never get a tattoo done by a hawker. Keep these things in mind while getting a tattoo  Use the new needle in front of you. Use a branded needle. Please read the expiry date, check it. Examine everything used to make tattoos carefully.
