Monkeypox-Is monkeypox spreading through sex?

The first case of monkeypox was first reported in South Kerala on 14 July. Since then, after many cases have come to light, a new case of monkeypox has come up in Delhi. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has said that the outbreak of this disease is spreading rapidly all over the world. We have very little information about the medium through which it is spreading. However, expressing concern over the rapidly spreading cases of monkeypox, the World Health Organization has declared a global public health emergency. WHO has called upon all countries to be serious on this issue. There itselfThe World Health Organization, citing sex between men as the reason for the spread of monkeypox, has advised to take special care of the human rights and dignity of the people of the affected community.
Spread of Monkeypox among men Poonam Khetrapal Singh, the first Indian doctor elected as Regional Director of the World Health Organization's South-East Asia Region, expressed concern over the rapid spread of monkeypox among at-risk populations. With cases concentrated in men who have sex with men, it is possible to reduce the spread of the disease. Monkeypox declared a public global health emergency WHO Regional Director Dr Poonam Khetrapal Singh said in her statement that the cases of monkeypox are emerging rapidly in countries that have not seen it before, it is a matter of great concern. However, it is possible to reduce the spread of the disease, with cases concentrated in men who have sex with men. The World Health Organization on Sunday called on countries in the Southeast Asia region to strengthen surveillance and public health measures for monkeypox, declaring the disease a public global health emergency. 98 percent of people infected with gay male monkeypox Analyzing the medical records of patients resident in cities, it was found that 98 percent of people with monkeypox infection were gay or bisexual men. Their average age is 38 years. Also in the study it was found that about 95 percent of people got infected with each other during sexual relations. But experts have clearly said in the study that this should not create a wrong sentiment against the gay community. This is a position which is not against any community. The study also found that not all patients infected with monkeypox need to be hospitalized. About 13 per cent of the patients who had to be admitted showed symptoms like rash, fever, lethargy, myalgia headache and swollen lymph nodes. Monkeypox is a DNA virus and it was found in the seminal fluid test of 29 out of 32 infected patients. Regarding information about monkeypox virus, Regional Director Dr. Singh says that the focused efforts and measures of our gathering regarding the disease should be sensitive and non-discriminatory. However, the risk of monkeypox on a global scale and in the region raises the possibility of international spread. Apart from this, not much is known about the virus yet. In such a situation, we need to be vigilant about monkeypox and be prepared to reduce the spread of this disease. WHO Continuing Efforts Since the onset of the disease, WHO has been helping to build and facilitate testing capabilities in the region, as well as assessing public health measures to support high-risk countries. Efforts are on to prevent infection Singh said, intensify surveillance and public health measures to protect affected communities, accelerate research into the use of vaccines, therapeutics and other tools to strengthen clinical management and infection prevention and control in hospitals and clinics. All these are among the major measures that need to be increased. Transmission from animals to humans Monkeypox states that the monkeypox virus is transmitted from infected animals to humans through indirect or direct contact. Human-to-human transmission can occur through direct contact with infectious skin or wounds. Transmission of monkeypox includes direct face-to-face, skin-to-skin and respiratory contact. In countries where monkeypox cases have been reported, transmission has mainly occurred through close physical contact, including sexual contact . In addition, infection can also be spread through contaminated materials such as linens, bedding, electronics and clothing that come into contact with the skin. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on monkeypox WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus recently said, 'I have determined that the global monkeypox outbreak is a public health emergency of international concern.' More than 16000 cases of monkeypox have been reported in 75 countries of the world, including three in India and one in Thailand. Whereas in the case of India, citizens who have returned home from the Middle East have been included, while in the case of Thailand, monkeypox was confirmed in a foreigner living in the country.
