Heatstroke is a condition caused by your body overheating, usually as a result of prolonged exposure to or physical exertion in high temperatures. This most serious form of heat injury, heatstroke, can occur if your body temperature rises to 104 F (40 C) or higher. The condition is most common in the summer months. the heat wave has made life difficult for the people. What is heat stroke-Heat stroke is the most serious heat-related illness. It occurs when the body becomes unable to control its temperature: the body's temperature rises rapidly, the sweating mechanism fails, and the body is unable to cool down.This occurs when a child is trapped in a hot environment. Examples of this would be an infant left in a car on a summer day, or a child with disabilities left in a hot apartment without access to water. People at greatest risk for heat-related illness include infants and children up to 4 years old; people 65 years of age and older; people who are overweight or have existing medical conditions, such as diabetes and heart disease; people who are socially isolated; and the poor. If someone has a heat stroke, then immediately following the initial methods mentioned below can be adopted.  Immerse you in cold water. A bath of cold or ice water has been proved to be the most effective way of quickly lowering your core body temperature. Use evaporation cooling techniques. Pack you with ice and cooling blankets. Give you medications to stop your shivering. wipe the body with a cloth of cold water  Place an ice pack or cloth on the head moistened with cold water Place a towel soaked in cold water on the head, neck, armpits and waist. Remove the thick layer of clothing and let it air. if the body temperature does not decrease, then contact a doctor immediately.
